Welcome to the Club!
Have you ever imagined yourself as someone else? Do you sometimes wish that you were more heroic? Does a world where dragons exist, hoarding mountains of treasure, sound interesting to you? Role Playing Games allow you to imagine worlds where these things can happen. When playing an RPG, you become an active part in a fantasy setting, making decisions that ultimately affect your character and others.
RPGs are not like "normal" games. There is no board. The rules are flexible. There is no "winner" or "loser". The game continues like a story, limited only by the players' imagination. RPGs are social games, meant to be played with a group of friends. Each player creates a character who will represent them in the game. These characters can be human, or if you prefer, a different race such as elf, dwarf, halfling, or even half orc. Each race has certain characteristics. Elves, for example, can see in the dark. Dwarves are immune to most magic. In addition, characters can choose to be one of many different types of characters. Some players may prefer to use magic, others might be more comfortable swinging a sword. For the more passive players, healing may be more up your alley. Whatever you choose, your character will work together with others and use his or her talents to help the group succeed.
The Skyline RPG Club will focus on Dungeons & Dragons, as close to its original form as possible. Additionally, we may branch off to play other games from time to time, but our main goal will be to develop our characters in long term adventures. The club's goal will be to create a fun, enjoyable setting where players can get together with students who share similar interests and have a good time. Hopefully our group will grow and remain a popular activity for students in the future.
Welcome! I'm looking forward to having a great time adventuring with you!
Mr. Wallace
